Revamped OROP Scheme: Enhanced Benefits for Retired Forces
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has put forward a notable and extensive update to the One Rank One Pension (OROP) initiative, aimed at delivering considerable advantages to around 3 million retired military personnel and their families, significantly enhancing their financial stability and overall quality of life. This updated approach to pension calculations will thoughtfully incorporate the most recent salary structures and benefits, guaranteeing that the pensions accurately represent the present economic landscape and the contributions of these committed individuals.
OROP 3 Revised Pension Table 2024 Notification
The OROP 3 revised pension table is now available for download in PDF format, providing crucial information for the esteemed members of the Defence Forces. This development comes in accordance with the official Defence Ministry Letter No. 12(1)/2014/D(Pen/Pol)-Part-II, which was issued on November 7, 2015, and outlines the procedures for the re-fixation of pensions for Defence Forces Personnel. As stipulated in this letter, pension amounts will be adjusted every five years to reflect changes and ensure fairness.
The first significant revision of pensions under the One Rank One Pension (OROP) Scheme occurred on July 1, 2019, which has brought relief to many veterans and their families. Looking ahead, the second revision is set to take effect on July 1, 2024, ensuring that pensions remain equitable over time.
For eligible Defence Forces pensioners and family pensioners, the re-fixation of pension will be determined based on the average of both minimum and maximum pension amounts received by Defence Forces Personnel who retired in the calendar year 2023, categorized by rank and length of service. Importantly, the pension for those currently receiving amounts above the established average will be protected, ensuring that no veteran receives less than what they are entitled to under this revised scheme. This measure aims to uphold the dignity and financial security of our brave servicemen and women.
The expected revised pension under OROP-3 with effect from 1st July 2024 is released! Sepoy will get Rs.21785 as revised pension w.e.f 1.7.2024 and Naik will get Rs.22875. The next rank Havaldar will get Rs.23050 and Nb Subedar will get Rs.27988. The Sun Major will get Rs.39350 and the Major will get Rs.72370.
