The Motor Vehicle Department was established by the Directorate of Transport, Andaman & Nicobar Administration in Port Blair. The MV Section, functioning under the Directorate of Transport, is responsible for a range of duties including motor vehicle registration, issuance of Learners Licenses & Driving Licenses, vehicle fitness testing, and Road Tax collection. AN Vehicle Number Plate Model
In Andaman and Nicobar, it is a requirement for vehicles to display number plates on both the front and back sides of the vehicle. The first two letters on the number plate signify the State or Union Territory where the vehicle is registered, while the following two numbers indicate the district or zone as per the RTO office records. The subsequent six letters represent a unique identification number assigned to the vehicle.
