Food Charges Reimbursement & Travelling Allowance/Dearness Allowance Rules – Complete Guide
Reimbursement of food charges for Central Government Employees in accordance with the Travelling Allowance/Dearness Allowance Rules 2024 will follow a structured process without individual reimbursements for food bills. Instead, a fixed lump sum amount will be granted based on the duration spent away from the headquarters, as detailed in the specified table. The need for submitting vouchers has been eliminated with this revised approach, which mirrors the method utilized by Indian Railways, albeit with adjusted rates to ensure consistent reimbursement processes.
- If absence from headquarters is less than 6 hours = 30% of the Lumpsum amount
- If absence from headquarters is between 6 -12 hours = 70% of the Lumpsum amount
- If absence from headquarters is more than 12 hours = 100% of the Lumpsum amount
TA/DA Rules: Reimbursing Hotel Room Charges
The reimbursement procedure for hotel charges for Central Government Staff and Officers has been revised as of July 1, 2017, in line with the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. Employees up to Level 8 are now eligible to claim reimbursement for hotel charges up to a specified limit without requiring vouchers, by submitting self-certified claims. These claims should include details such as the duration of stay and accommodation information. In cities categorized as Class ‘X’, the daily ceiling for all employees up to Level 8 is Rs. 1,000, which will be reimbursed upon the submission of required vouchers.
TA/DA Travel Expense Reimbursement Policy
Effective July 1, 2017, there have been revisions to the Travel Allowance (TA) reimbursement guidelines for Central Government Officers and Staff. To align with the accommodation reimbursement procedures, individuals at level 8 and below are now able to claim TA without receipts up to a specified limit using a self-certified claim. This self-certified claim should contain comprehensive information including the travel period, vehicle details, and other pertinent information. Furthermore, the ceiling for levels 11 and below will be raised by 25% each time the Dearness Allowance (DA) increases by 50%. Additionally, a fixed allowance of Rs.12 per kilometer is allocated for journeys made on foot.
