Story Overview

The film revolves around Ranvijay Singh (Ranbir Kapoor), the emotionally unstable son of a wealthy industrialist, Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor). Ranbir Kapoor as Ranvijay Singh

Ranbir Kapoor delivers arguably one of the finest performances of his career. He completely disappears into the role of Ranvijay—a character who is charismatic, terrifying, emotionally broken, and deeply flawed at the same time.

His performance balances rage, vulnerability, emotional obsession, arrogance, and violence remarkably well. Whether delivering emotional breakdowns, violent confrontations, or emotionally manipulative dialogue, Ranbir dominates nearly every frame of the movie.

The transformation of his character across different timelines is convincing and layered, making Ranvijay both compelling and disturbing.

Anil Kapoor as Balbir Singh

Anil Kapoor plays the emotionally distant father with restraint and maturity. Though his screen time is limited compared to Ranbir, his presence forms the emotional foundation of the story. Balbir’s inability to emotionally connect with his son becomes the psychological trigger for the events of the film.

Bobby Deol as Abrar

Bobby Deol appears late in the movie but creates a memorable impact. Despite limited dialogue, his intimidating body language and silent menace make him an effective antagonist. His entry sequence and confrontation with Ranbir are among the film’s highlights.

However, the screenplay often becomes self-indulgent. The runtime feels excessive in places, with scenes stretching longer than necessary. Certain emotional moments repeat themselves, and some subplots feel underdeveloped.

Despite pacing issues, Vanga succeeds in making the film emotionally immersive and visually unforgettable.

This is not a conventional Bollywood action film. The violence in Animal is raw, graphic, disturbing, and deliberately excessive. The action scenes are brutal and stylized, often designed to reflect Ranvijay’s unstable psychological condition.

The famous corridor fight sequence, large-scale machine gun confrontations, and emotionally charged combat scenes create unforgettable cinematic moments. However, viewers sensitive to gore or violence may find the film uncomfortable.

One of the film’s biggest strengths is its soundtrack and background score. Songs like Arjan Vailly and emotionally charged compositions elevate the intensity of key scenes.
