HIT: The Third Case (2025) – Detailed Movie Review
The film follows SP Arjun Sarkaar, a fearless and psychologically complex officer attached to the Homicide Intervention Team. Arjun is assigned a disturbing and dangerous investigation involving a series of gruesome murders that reveal a sinister criminal network operating in secrecy.
As the investigation deepens, Arjun is forced into increasingly disturbing situations where violence, manipulation, trauma, and moral ambiguity become inseparable from justice. Rather than functioning as a traditional detective mystery filled with clues and twists, the story becomes a character-driven exploration of obsession, rage, and psychological burden.
The screenplay balances investigation and action, though at times it deliberately shifts toward a darker action-thriller format that may surprise fans expecting a pure investigative mystery.
Nani’s Career-Best Intensity?
One of the film’s strongest pillars is Nani’s commanding performance as Arjun Sarkaar. Known for emotionally grounded performances, Nani presents a far more aggressive and emotionally damaged version of a police officer here. He carries the emotional burden of the film almost entirely on his shoulders.
Arjun Sarkaar is not portrayed as a polished hero. Instead, he feels deeply flawed, emotionally scarred, impulsive, and dangerously committed to justice. Nani effectively captures both emotional vulnerability and terrifying rage, making Arjun one of the most memorable protagonists in the HIT franchise.
Several intense scenes demonstrate his screen presence, especially during emotionally charged confrontations and violent breakdown moments.
Direction & Screenplay
Director Sailesh Kolanu expands the scale of the HIT universe with bigger stakes, more cinematic action, and a darker visual atmosphere. The storytelling feels ambitious, particularly in how it tries to connect investigative thriller mechanics with psychological trauma and emotional intensity.
However, the screenplay may divide audiences. The first half remains engaging with strong setup, mystery, and suspense, while the latter portion becomes increasingly action-heavy and emotionally intense. Viewers expecting layered detective work throughout may find the narrative shift somewhat unexpected.
Some portions feel stretched, and a few dramatic moments lean toward spectacle instead of subtle storytelling. Yet the director succeeds in maintaining tension and urgency for much of the runtime.
Violence, Tone & Emotional Weight
Unlike earlier HIT films, HIT: The Third Case is considerably darker and more violent. The film contains disturbing imagery, graphic crime scenes, brutal confrontations, and emotionally heavy themes.
This mature tone enhances realism for some viewers while potentially alienating audiences looking for a conventional thriller. The violence is not always presented for shock value alone; in many moments it is used to reflect the emotional collapse and psychological damage experienced by characters.
That said, certain scenes may feel excessive for viewers sensitive to graphic content.
Supporting Cast Performance
Srinidhi Shetty delivers a composed performance and contributes emotional grounding to the story. The supporting cast effectively complements the investigation narrative, while several antagonistic and supporting characters create tension and unpredictability throughout the film.
Though some characters could have benefited from deeper development, the ensemble generally supports the dark, unsettling tone of the story.
Technical Excellence
Technically, the film is highly polished. The cinematography successfully captures the bleak, cold, and unsettling atmosphere required for a psychological crime thriller. Shadow-heavy visuals and carefully framed action sequences elevate the viewing experience.
The background score enhances tension without overpowering emotional scenes. Sound design is sharp, especially during investigation sequences and emotionally intense confrontations.
Editing remains effective for most parts, though a slightly tighter runtime could have improved pacing.
