Directed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo, Extraction (2020) is a high-octane, relentlessly paced action thriller.

The story—subtitled The Catalyst: An International Drug War—begins in Mumbai, India. There, Ovi Mahajan Jr. (Rudraksh Jaiswal), the teenage son of an incarcerated international crime lord, is kidnapped. The mastermind behind this abduction is Amir Asif (Priyanshu Painyuli), a ruthless rival drug kingpin based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He intends to use the boy as a bargaining chip to seize control of his rival’s territory.

With the imprisoned father’s assets frozen, his right-hand man and protector—Saju (Randeep Hooda), a former Indian Special Forces operative—is forced to devise a way to rescue the boy without a ransom payment. Facing threats against his own family should he fail, Saju is driven to formulate a desperate and treacherous rescue plan.

The Rescue: A Suicidal Mission. Enter Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth)—a black-market mercenary and former Australian SASR operative. Tyler is a man left physically and emotionally shattered by the tragic death of his young son from lymphoma; he had sought to escape the grief of that loss by immersing himself in the battlefield.
